WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING?

Text: Romans 8:35–39

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:35, 37


Life doesn’t always erupt in crisis, it often simmers. The waters of our daily existence heat slowly, quietly, until we find ourselves steeped in frustration, anxiety, and depression. In these moments, we begin to withdraw. We build emotional walls to protect ourselves, but those walls soon become prisons. We hide behind silence, smiles, and busyness, hoping no one notices the pain within. And before we realize it, we’ve built barriers so tall that connection feels impossible.


But God never called us to isolation. He called us to communion, healing, and love. Even when the government disappoints, the school system confuses, the church wounds, or the family fails, God’s love remains. It is the bridge that spans every divide.


Let these verses tear down the walls and build bridges of restoration:


  1. When you feel ashamed: “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion…” — Isaiah 61:7


  1. When fear overwhelms you: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives…” — John 14:27


  1. When you feel alone: “Let us not give up meeting together… but encouraging one another…” — Hebrews 10:25


  1. When doubt creeps in: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7


  1. When you feel broken: “I will restore to you the years the locust has eaten…” — Joel 2:25


Say this through faith!!! Today, I choose to build bridges, not barriers. I will no longer hide behind walls of pain or fear. I will not let the failures of government, school, church, or family define my faith. I will let nothing, absolutely nothing, separate me from the love of God. I am held. I am seen. I am loved. “For I am convinced… that nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38–39


Let's pray: Lord, tear down every wall I’ve built in fear, shame, or pain. Help me to build bridges of healing, truth, and love. Remind me daily that Your love is unshakable, unstoppable, and unconditional. Let nothing separate me from You, not circumstances, not people, not even my own doubts. I receive Your love today, and I choose connection over isolation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
