FREE FROM SIN THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

This freedom from bondage is for every person in the world!

The foundation of our freedom as believers is rooted in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Romans 6:6–7 declares, “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.” This passage reveals that through Christ’s death, our sinful nature was put to death, and we are no longer slaves to sin. We are spiritually repositioned, no longer under the dominion of guilt, shame, or darkness.

Jesus Himself affirmed this truth in John 8:36: “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” This freedom is not emotional or temporary, it is eternal and complete. It is a divine transaction that breaks every chain and silences every accusation. When we accept Jesus as Lord, we receive not only forgiveness but also authority to walk in the light and reject every form of darkness.

Colossians 1:13–14 further confirms our new position: “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” We are no longer bound by our past or by spiritual oppression. We have been transferred into a new kingdom, one of light, truth, and grace.

However, this freedom must be guarded. Galatians 5:1 exhorts us, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” The enemy will attempt to lure us back into old patterns, but we must stand firm, knowing who we are in Christ. Our liberty is our testimony, our weapon, and our inheritance.

In conclusion, freedom from sin is not just a theological concept, it is a lived reality for every believer who has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord. We are redeemed, restored, and empowered to walk in holiness. Let us declare with boldness: I am free from sin. I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus. I walk in the light. I reject every form of darkness. I belong to Christ, and I am free indeed.

Here are 5 strong scriptures I often use to demonstrate the freedom God gave us, through Jesus Christ.

1. Galatians 5:1

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Christ has set us free—hold on to that freedom and refuse to return to spiritual slavery.

2. John 8:36

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” True freedom comes only through Jesus. It is complete, eternal, and undeniable.

3. Romans 8:1–2

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus… For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” In Christ, we are free from guilt and the penalty of sin.

4. 2 Corinthians 3:17

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” The presence of God brings spiritual liberty and transformation.

5. Colossians 1:13–14

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” We are no longer under the dominion of darkness, we’ve been transferred into the kingdom of light.
