WHAT WE ALL NEED IS RENEWAL

We are living in a time when the world feels stretched and strained. Political tensions rise, economic pressures mount, spiritual climates shift, and sociological divides widen. Families feel it. Churches feel it. Communities feel it. Yet none of this surprises God. Through Paul’s words in Ephesians 4:17–32, the Spirit calls us to something deeper than reaction, frustration, or fear. He calls us to renewal. Paul urges believers not to walk as the Gentiles walk, lost in the futility of their minds and alienated from the life of God. That description mirrors the world around us today. When we are overwhelmed by the noise of division, we drift into old patterns of anger, suspicion, and self-protection. But the Word commands us to put off the old self, be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and put on the new self. Renewal is not optional. It is essential.
Before renewal can take root, we must pause. A holy pause interrupts the cycle of frustration and re-centers us in the presence of God. We pause to remember that God is not confused by political chaos, not intimidated by economic instability, not shaken by spiritual decline, and not overwhelmed by cultural shifts. But we are. And that is why we need renewal. Renewal is the divine reset that brings us back into alignment with the heart of God.

In renewal, God restores us to real love. The world offers conditional love, love that depends on agreement, performance, or convenience. But the love of God is covenantal, steadfast, and transforming. When we allow the Spirit to renew us, we begin to love differently. We speak truth with grace. We confront anger with peace. We forgive quickly because we have been forgiven deeply. We build unity because Christ has made us one body. Renewal reshapes how we see people, how we respond to conflict, and how we carry ourselves in a divided world.
Renewal also gives direction. In the presence of God, clarity returns. The fog lifts. The Spirit realigns our steps and reminds us who we are and whose we are. When the world pulls us in a thousand directions, renewal pulls us back to center, back to Christ, back to purpose, back to truth. In Him we find direction, identity, and strength.
Lord, we pause before You. Renew our minds. Renew our hearts. Renew our love. Renew our direction. Strip away the old patterns that divide us and clothe us in the newness of Christ. Make us instruments of unity, peace, and truth in a fractured world. We receive Your renewal today. Amen.
