WHAT PAST?, PRAY FOR HIS KINGDOM TO COME

THE ENEMY TRIED IT… BUT YOU’RE STILL STANDING

The year has barely begun. We are only days into 2026, and already the atmosphere is charged. You can almost feel the tension between what God has promised and what the enemy is attempting. It’s as if the moment the clock struck midnight, the adversary scrambled to drag the residue of 2025 into your new season. Attempting to bring back old fears, old wounds, old cycles, old voices, old trauma, old disappointments. He wants you to believe that nothing has changed, that you are still bound to what broke you, that your past still has the authority to define your future. But hear me clearly: the enemy is a liar. And this year, you are stepping into a level of freedom, clarity, and victory that cannot be reversed. The King has spoken it over your life and that is final.

Right now, the enemy has probably already tried to rear his head in 2026 with the same old issues from 2025, trying to drag you back into the mindset of past hurts, past abuse, past disappointments, past failures, past this and past that.

Understand me, I am up at 3:16 AM reading my Bible, praying writing this devotional, declaring the splendor of the Kingdom over the life of each reader, and standing in faith that you will not be held captive by the issues of your past. I am believing God that you will stand in the freedom of His Word and that your life will be overtaken by the blessings, authority, and advancement of the coming Kingdom of God. I am declaring the will of God over my life and over the life of my family, trusting that what God has spoken will manifest.

The enemy’s strategy is simple: if he can get your mind, he can influence your momentum. If he can get you to rehearse old pain, he can keep you from embracing new purpose. If he can get you to relive old trauma, he can distract you from new opportunities. But this year, you are not going back. You are not shrinking. You are not surrendering to old patterns. You are not bowing to old fears. You are not returning to what God has already delivered you from. You are stepping into this year with a renewed mind, a strengthened spirit, and a heart anchored in the truth of God’s Word.

This year, you are standing in the truth of 1 John 5:4–5, which declares: “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” This is not just a verse, it is your identity. You are born of God. You are an overcomer. Victory is not something you chase; it is something you carry. The moment you proclaim Jesus as Lord over your life, His Kingdom takes full rule and authority over everything concerning you. That means victory belongs to you, to me, to your family, and to everyone connected to you, because the light of the Kingdom of God has overtaken you. Darkness cannot reclaim what God has illuminated. The past cannot imprison what God has freed. The enemy cannot sabotage what God has secured.

As you step deeper into 2026, walk with your head lifted. Walk with your shoulders squared. Walk with the confidence of someone who knows that heaven is backing them. Walk with the assurance that your past has no legal right to your future. Walk with the boldness of someone who understands that the Kingdom of God is not coming to your life, it has already arrived. This year, you will not be tossed by emotions. You will not be manipulated by memories. You will not be controlled by fear. You will not be weakened by what was. You will stand. You will rise. You will overcome. You will walk in the fullness of God’s promises.

So hear me in the Spirit: 2026 is not a repeat of 2025! This is not the year of cycles, it is the year of breaking them. This is not the year of barely surviving, it is the year of walking in strength. This is not the year of looking back, it is the year of moving forward with power. The enemy tried to pull you into the past, but God has already pushed you into your future. And nothing, absolutely nothing, can stop what God has set in motion. Walk boldly. Walk freely. Walk victoriously. Your past is behind you. Your breakthrough is before you. And your victory is already settled.
