THE HAPPINESS AND POWER OF PRAISING THE LORD

“Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6

There is a joy that rises in the soul when you praise the Lord, a joy that no circumstance can silence and no enemy can steal. Praise is not just a sound; it is a spiritual weapon, a place of refuge, and a doorway into the presence of God. Scripture tells us, “God inhabits the praises of His people” (Psalm 22:3). That means when you praise Him, you create a place for Him to dwell. You build a sanctuary in the middle of your situation. You open the atmosphere for God to move, strengthen, and restore. This is why, if you see me, you will often find me praising God, because I know His goodness, and I know He comes close when His people lift Him up.

One of the most powerful examples of praise in hard times is found in 2 Chronicles 20. Judah was surrounded by enemies, outnumbered, and facing certain defeat. But instead of sending out the strongest soldiers first, God gave an unusual command: send the praise leaders ahead of the army. They marched into battle singing, “Praise the Lord; for His mercy endureth forever.” And when they began to praise, God moved suddenly and supernaturally. Confusion fell on the enemy, and victory came when they least expected it. Praise opened the door for God to fight for them. Praise shifted the battle. Praise turned fear into triumph. This same God still moves for those who dare to praise Him in the midst of trouble.

I know this power personally. There was a time when I was feeling sick, days had gone by with only minor changes. My body was tired, my strength was low, and nothing seemed to be improving. But then I felt the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit: sing. It started as a low hum, barely above a whisper. That hum grew into words, and those words grew into worship. Before I knew it, the power of God entered the room. I forgot about the fact that I wasn’t feeling well because His presence overshadowed everything else. What happened next wasn’t history, it was healing. Praise shifted the atmosphere. Praise lifted the heaviness. Praise invited God to do what only He can do. HEAL! DELIVER! and MAKE US FREE!

So set up a camp of praise in your life. Sing songs and spiritual songs. Lift your voice until the boundaries hell tried to build around you begin to crumble. Praise until heaviness lifts. Praise until joy rises. Praise until your spirit dances again. Happiness is not found in what you have, it is found in the God who meets you when you praise Him. When you give God a place to dwell, He gives you strength to stand, courage to endure, and victory you didn’t see coming. Keep praising, keep singing, keep rejoicing… because God is moving even now. So, make a playlist of worship songs and a playlist of praise songs, then when your sing-along begins, so will the movement of the Spirit of God.
