MAKE "HIM" THE PRIORITY

The world feels loud and unsettled right now. Everywhere we turn, there are headlines about conflict, division, and uncertainty. It’s easy for fear to creep in and for our attention to drift toward everything going wrong. But in the middle of global unrest, Jesus gives us a command that brings clarity and peace: “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33). God is not asking to be an afterthought, He is calling us to make Him the priority.
To make God the priority means giving Him first place in your life. Not second. Not “when I get around to it.” First. It means choosing His voice over the noise of the world, His truth over your fears, and His presence over your distractions. Scripture reminds us, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6). When God is first, everything else becomes clearer. You don’t have to figure out your whole life at once; you just have to seek Him first, and He will guide your steps.

Making God the priority also means intentionally creating space for Him every day. It doesn’t require hours of rituals. It can be as simple as praying before you start your day, reading a scripture before you open social media, choosing worship instead of worry, or pausing to ask, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” The Bible says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8). Small choices build strong priorities, and every time you choose God first, even in small ways, you are strengthening your foundation.
This matters now more than ever because when the world shakes, only God remains steady. When culture shifts, God stays the same. When fear rises, God’s peace still guards hearts. Jesus said, “My peace I give unto you… not as the world gives.” (John 14:27). Young people especially need more than motivation, they need an anchor. And that anchor is found in putting God first. When He is your priority, you won’t be tossed around by the chaos around you. You’ll stand firm, confident, and grounded.
You don’t have to be perfect to make God your priority. You just have to be willing. God sees your effort, honors your pursuit, and strengthens your steps. And as Psalm 37:5 reminds us, “Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” When you seek Him first, everything else will fall into place.
